Avant-Gardens People's Choice

VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE!!

During June and July we are asking visitors to vote for their favourite garden. Those who vote for the winning ‘People’s Choice’ will have their names put into a draw and the winner of this draw will receive the furniture on display in Karen’s ‘Secret Senses’ garden. We will deliver it in August so you have plenty of summer left to enjoy it!!

Voting slips are available from the garden centre – entries must be received by Sunday 29th July 2007.

‘Lavender Fields Forever’

Reminiscent of happy and relaxing childhood holidays spent in Norfolk, playing amongst the Lavender fields. Part of these holidays also included a challenge from my father – to tell the time using the sun-dial, which became a long-standing joke!

Easy maintenance, fragrance, a sense of space using mirrors and only a few different materials help the garden Elizabeth Tinker's gardento soothe and relax mind, body and soul.

Elizabeth Tinker

Our Plant Area Manager is a working mother of a very active 3 year old. A trained horticulturist this is one of her first formal designs, the first of many more?

‘The Retreat’

Designed as a place for one person to seek peace. The red Pyramid represents our troubles and when seated your troubles are behind you. The focus of attention is the ‘Guardian Angel’ which will hopefully soothe the mind. The pyramid shield the person from other people’s sight and the simple green planting enhances the calming feel of the garden that is sought by the troubled visitor.

John Stevenson's gardenJohn Stevenson

John is our only male and retired winner. He has come to garden design late but is fired up and overflowing with ideas, and we can’t wait to see his restyled front garden in Portobello!

‘Secret Senses’

Creating a solid structure around which the organic plant forms and glass pieces are arranged in a marriage of light, colour and texture. Glass as a natural product that reflects, transforms and casts shadows has a very harmonious place in the contemporary garden adding an ever changing dimension, in a variety of exciting and stimulating ways.

Karen Laing's gardenKaren Laing
